Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with extracellular class III epitope on CD34, a 110–115 kDa monomeric transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells and pluripotential stem cells. Expression is gradually lost on progenitor cells. The antibody 4H11[APG] completely blocks binding of class III antibodies BIRMA K3 and 8G12 on the KG1a cell line.


Target Information

CD34 is a highly glycosylated monomeric surface protein (111–115 kDa) present on many stem cell populations. It serves as a stem cell marker, with reversible expression on human hematopoietic stem cells. CD34 may act as a receptor involved in endocytosis, adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. It may mediate attachment to the bone marrow extracellular matrix or stromal cells and serve as a scaffold for lineage-specific glycans. The intracellular domain can be phosphorylated by protein kinase C, suggesting a role in signal transduction. CD34 dysfunction is associated with dermatofibrosarcoma and neurofibroma.
