Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD25 (Interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain), a 55 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on activated B and T lymphocytes, activated monocytes/macrophages, and CD4+ T lymphocytes (T regulatory cells). It is lost on resting B and T lymphocytes.

Target Information

CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain, IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in T and B lymphocyte proliferation. The IL2 receptor is a heterotrimeric complex composed of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG chains, forming the high-affinity IL2 receptor.
Homodimeric IL2RA chains form low-affinity receptors, while IL2RB homodimers form medium-affinity receptors.
IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, serving as a regulatory mechanism for precise gene control.
IL2 is mainly produced by mature T cells and functions as a growth, differentiation, and cell death regulator. It stimulates B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and inhibits granulocyte-macrophage colony formation.
Disruption of a similar gene in mice leads to ulcerative colitis-like disease, indicating its role in immune response regulation.
Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency.
