Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope on the native form of human HLA-G1 on the cell surface as well as with soluble HLA-G5 isoform in its beta2-microglobulin associated form. Reactivity with HLA-G3 has also been reported.
It does not cross-react with mouse.

Target Information

HLA-G belongs to the HLA class I heavy chain paralogues. This class I molecule is a heterodimer consisting of a heavy chain and a light chain (beta-2 microglobulin). The heavy chain is anchored in the membrane and expressed on fetal-derived placental cells.
The heavy chain is approximately 45 kDa and its gene contains 8 exons:

1. Exon 1 encodes the leader peptide
2. Exons 2 and 3 encode the α1 and α2 domains (peptide-binding)
3. Exon 4 encodes the α3 domain
4. Exon 5 encodes the transmembrane region
5. Exon 6 encodes the cytoplasmic tail
