Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody is directed against the 6X His motif and is useful for detecting over-expressed proteins containing the 6X His epitope tag. It reacts with all His-tagged proteins tested and does not cross-react with endogenous bacterial proteins. Recognizes His-tag fused to either amino- or carboxy-termini of target proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
The 6X His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly used at either N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins for purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging allows detection of recombinant proteins for which no specific antibody exists.
His-tagged proteins can be purified efficiently via Ni²⁺-NTA affinity chromatography due to the strong and selective binding of histidine clusters to nickel ions.
His tag-specific antibodies are used for detection and co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
