Product Specific Information

The antibody is specific to a class III epitope on CD34, which is not susceptible to cleavage by neuraminidase, chymopapain, or glycoprotease.

Target Information

CD34 is a highly glycosylated monomeric surface protein (111–115 kDa) expressed on many stem cell populations. It functions as a stem cell marker, with expression reversible on human hematopoietic stem cells.
CD34 may act as a surface receptor involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis and regulation of adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells.
It is believed to facilitate attachment of stem cells to the bone marrow extracellular matrix or stromal cells and may present carbohydrate ligands to selectins. The intracellular domain can be phosphorylated by activated protein kinase C, suggesting a role in signal transduction.
Diseases associated with CD34 dysfunction include dermatofibrosarcoma and neurofibroma.
