Product Specific Information

This antibody is specific against CD36 and recognizes an epitope between amino acids 155–183.
CD36 acts as a receptor for various ligands such as phospholipids, cholesterol ester, lipoproteins, phosphatidylserine, and apoptotic cells.
It also functions as a receptor for hepatitis C virus in hepatocytes, facilitating cell entry and mediating uptake of M. fortuitum, E. coli, and S. aureus.

Target Information

CD36 (Scavenger Receptor Class B Member 3) is expressed on macrophages, platelets, adipocytes, and other cells.
It plays key roles in lipid metabolism, inflammation, and atherosclerosis, and is involved in recognition and uptake of oxidized LDL, long-chain fatty acids, and apoptotic cells.
CD36 also contributes to malaria pathogenesis and serves as a receptor for thrombospondin in platelets.
Mutations in CD36 cause Platelet Glycoprotein Deficiency and are associated with Coronary Heart Disease 7.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants are known.
