Target Information
TAB3 functions in the NF-κB signal transduction pathway. Together with TAB2, it forms a ternary complex with the protein kinase TAK1 and either TRAF2 or TRAF6 in response to TNF or IL-1 stimulation. TAK1 activation leads to NF-κB transcription factor activation.
Recent studies show that TAB2 and TAB3 interact with the autophagy mediator Beclin-1; upon autophagy induction, they dissociate from Beclin-1 and bind TAK1. Overexpression of TAB2 and TAB3 inhibits autophagy, while depletion triggers it, suggesting their role as a control point for autophagy.
