Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody 54 (RMT4-54) recognizes mouse Tim-4 (T cell, Ig, mucin).
Tim-4 is expressed on antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic cells and macrophages, not on T lymphocytes. It interacts with Tim-1 and may play a role in Th1/Th2 regulation and apoptotic cell engulfment. Expression is observed in CD11c⁺ splenic cells.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes at ≤ 0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended.

Use a viability dye such as 7-AAD (Product #00-6993-50) when staining for Tim-4.

Target Information

The TIM family encodes cell surface receptors involved in Th1/Th2 regulation.
TIM-4, expressed on macrophages and dendritic cells, is the natural ligand of TIM-1, promoting T-cell expansion and cytokine production.
Unlike other TIM members, TIM-4 lacks a tyrosine phosphorylation signal in its intracellular domain.
The TIM-4 gene is associated with asthma predisposition in mice and humans and is considered a candidate gene for Th2 responsiveness.
