Product Specific Information
- Stability: Antibody is stable for 24 months.
- Positive Control: HeLa cells, human tonsil, pancreas, or histiocytoma.

- Specificity Comments:
Recognizes a 65–76 kDa protein identified as antichymotrypsin (AACT), a plasma protease inhibitor synthesized in the liver. AACT levels increase in response to trauma, surgery, and infection. Elevated levels are observed in cerebrospinal fluid and plasma of Alzheimer's disease patients.
PSA (prostate-specific antigen) and its SDS-stable complex with AACT are used as diagnostic markers for prostate cancer. AACT deficiency may be associated with chronic liver disease.
The antibody reacts with histiocytes and histiocytic neoplasms and is widely used to identify histiocytes and tumors derived from them. Acinar tumors of the pancreas and salivary gland may also show AACT positivity.
Target Information
SERPINA3 encodes Alpha-1-Antichymotrypsin (Alpha-1-ACT), an early-stage acute-phase plasma protein and serine protease inhibitor (serpin) that preferentially inactivates chymotrypsin, cathepsin G, and chymase.
Alpha-1-ACT is associated with amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease and normal aged brain tissue. Regulation of serine proteases and their inhibitors is important in neuromuscular differentiation.
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a chymotrypsin-like serine protease, predominantly forms complexes with Alpha-1-ACT.
