This antibody detects a 100 kDa protein corresponding to the molecular mass of Integrin beta3 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human platelets and endothelial cells (HUVEC).
Target Information
CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It plays a key role in platelet aggregation and serves as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin.
CD61 is a 105 kDa glycoprotein that associates with either alpha IIb integrin (CD41) or alpha V integrin (CD51) at the cell surface. It is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes (with CD41) and on endothelial cells, monocytes, and osteoclasts (with CD51).
CD61 participates in cell adhesion and cell-surface mediated signaling. Dysfunctions are associated with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
