Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, which transports various molecules across cellular membranes. ABC genes are classified into seven subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White).
ABCE1, also known as RNase L inhibitor, blocks the activity of ribonuclease L, which inhibits protein synthesis in the 2-5A/RNase L antiviral pathway. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
