This antibody detects endogenous levels of TPPP only when phosphorylated at Ser18.
Target Information
Tubulin family members are globular proteins important in the assembly of microtubules, which are structural components playing key roles in mitosis, cytokinesis, and vesicle transport.
TPPP (Tubulin polymerization-promoting protein), also known as p24 or p25, is a 219 amino acid protein localized in the perinuclear region of the cytoplasm. It can form dimers and promotes tubulin polymerization into double-walled tubules or stabilized aggregates. Overexpression of TPPP interferes with mitotic spindle formation and nuclear envelope breakdown.
TPPP is phosphorylated by TPK II and encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 5. It may play roles in microtubule polymerization, bundling, stabilization, and maintenance of the microtubule network integrity, as well as in mitotic spindle assembly and nuclear envelope breakdown.
