Target Information
HCV is a positive, single-stranded RNA virus in the Flaviviridae family. The genome (~10,000 nucleotides) encodes a single polyprotein (~3,000 amino acids), which is processed by host cell and viral proteases into structural and non-structural proteins necessary for viral replication. Several genotypes of HCV have been identified, correlating with differences in response to interferon alpha treatment.
