Product Specific Information

  • Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
  • Centrifuge if solution is not clear after standing.
  • Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid; dilute only prior to immediate use.

Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Goat Serum and purified/partially purified GFP (Aequorea victoria).
No cross-reactivity observed with Human, Mouse, or Rat serum proteins.


Target Information

The jellyfish Aequorea victoria produces Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), which emits green light during bioluminescence. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression and as a protein tag in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems.

As a fusion tag, GFP enables visualization of protein localization, dynamics, and subcellular compartment behavior. GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that forms a fluorescent pigment autocatalytically, absorbing maximally at 395 nm and emitting at 508 nm. Its fluorescence is stable, species-independent, and does not require cofactors, making it ideal for diverse applications such as:

  • Monitoring gene expression
  • Protein localization studies
  • Protein–protein interaction assays (e.g., yeast two-hybrid)
  • FRET-based distance measurements
