Target Information

MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase is a dual-specificity protein kinase involved in the MAPK signaling cascade, regulating cell growth and differentiation. It is activated by various growth factors, cytokines, and calcium influx through phosphorylation at Ser218 and Ser222 by Raf1.
MEK1 plays roles in stress response, apoptosis, and cytokine-induced proliferation. Mutations in MAP2K1 can cause cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
