Target Information
Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with four core histone proteins, it forms the nucleosome structure that packages DNA. Histones play crucial roles in transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 can undergo various post-translational modifications, such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, influencing chromatin structure and gene expression.
