Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues, heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Dystrophin is a 427 kDa protein encoded by the DMD/BMD gene located on the X chromosome (Xp21).
Western blotting and immunohistochemistry are established methods for detecting dystrophin expression abnormalities in muscle biopsies.
Dystrophin abnormalities are present in nearly all DMD/BMD patients, though genetic defects are identifiable in up to 65% of cases.
