Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, an additional desalting step is recommended (Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

MUC1 (Mucin 1, Episialin, MAM-6, CA 15-3, PEM, EMA) is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed in most glandular and ductal epithelial cells, as well as some hematopoietic cell lineages.
It is a transmembrane glycoprotein with a large extracellular domain containing numerous O-linked glycans. MUC1 is highly polymorphic, with allelic variants encoding different numbers of tandem repeats (30–90), resulting in variable molecular weights.
MUC1 is abundantly expressed in over 90% of breast carcinomas and metastases. It has been shown to associate with all four erbB receptors and localize with EGFR in lactating glands.
Overexpression, altered localization, and aberrant glycosylation of MUC1 are associated with various carcinomas. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though not all full-length sequences have been determined.
