Target Information
BCL-2는 세포사멸(apoptosis)을 조절하는 핵심 단백질로, 세포 사멸을 억제하거나 촉진하는 역할을 합니다. BCL-2 패밀리 단백질들은 서로 이합체를 형성하여 세포사멸 조절을 더욱 정교하게 수행합니다. 예를 들어, Bag1은 BCL-2와 이합체를 형성하여 항세포사멸 효과를 강화하며, Bax와 Bak은 미토콘드리아로부터 cytochrome c 방출을 유도하여 세포사멸을 개시합니다.
BCL-2의 지속적 발현은 림프종 등 다양한 암과 연관되어 있으며, 특히 BCL-2가 Ig heavy chain locus로 전위된 경우 여포성 림프종의 원인으로 알려져 있습니다. 정상 또는 과형성된 배중심은 BCL-2 단백질을 거의 발현하지 않지만, 대부분의 여포성 림프종에서는 BCL-2 단백질이 과발현됩니다.
BCL-2 유전자는 두 가지 전사 변이체를 가지며, 이는 C-말단 영역의 차이로 구분됩니다. BCL-2의 과발현은 B세포 림프종 및 전립선암 등 다양한 인간 암과 관련이 있습니다.
