Product Specific Information
Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. After reconstitution, store aliquots at -20 °C for higher stability, or at 4 °C with an antibacterial agent. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles. Addition of glycerol (1:1) may enhance stability.
Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a family of peroxidases involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx proteins (approximately 50 isoforms) share conserved cysteine residues and thiol-specific antioxidant activity. They are classified into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx subgroups.
Prx VI, belonging to the 1-Cys subgroup, differs from the other five 2-Cys Prx isoforms that exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as reducing systems.
Mammalian Prxs range from 20–30 kDa and have distinct subcellular localizations: Prx I, II, and VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secretory pathways; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
