Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. After reconstitution, keep aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, and at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability.

Target Information

Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a growing peroxidase family whose mammalian members are associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Many isoforms (about 50 proteins) share amino acid sequence homology and exhibit thiol-specific antioxidant activity across all kingdoms. Mammalian Prx consists of six members grouped into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx. Except for Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), the other five 2-Cys Prx isotypes have thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity utilizing thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as a reducing system. Mammalian Prxs range from 20–30 kDa and vary in subcellular localization: Prx I, II, and VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secretion; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
