Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD7, a 40 kD type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on peripheral blood T lymphocytes, NK-cells, hematopoietic progenitors, monocytes (weakly), and acute lymphocytic leukemia cells.
Western Blot: non-reducing conditions recommended.

Target Information

CD7 (gp40, Leu9) is a 40 kDa member of the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. The N-terminal amino acids (1–107) are highly homologous to Ig kappa-L chains, while the C-terminal region is proline-rich and forms a stalk projecting the Ig domain.
CD7 is expressed on most immature and mature T-lymphocytes, T cell leukemia, NK cells, a small subset of normal B cells, and malignant B cells. Cross-linking CD7 enhances T cell and NK cell activity, influencing calcium flux, adhesion molecule expression, cytokine secretion, and proliferation.
CD7 directly associates with phosphoinositol 3-kinase, and its ligation induces D-3 phosphoinositide production and tyrosine phosphorylation. CD7 expression serves as a key marker in leukemia diagnostics.
