Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of CaMK4 only when phosphorylated at Threonine 200.
Target Information
CAMK4 (CaMKIV) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates CREB, oncoprotein 18, and SRF. It has limited tissue distribution and is involved in transcriptional regulation in lymphocytes, neurons, and male germ cells. The nuclear localization of this protein supports its role in calcium-dependent gene expression regulation.
CaMKIV is abundant in testis, T-cells, and neurons but is also expressed in other tissues. In neurons, it contributes to synaptic plasticity through gene regulation, while in T-cells, it plays a key role in calcium signaling affecting NFAT activity.
CaMKIV and calspermin are encoded by the same gene. In testes, CaMKIV associates with chromatin, suggesting a role in chromatin remodeling during spermatid nuclear condensation.
