Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of TrkB only when phosphorylated at Tyrosine 706.

Target Information

NTRK2 (TRKB) belongs to the neurotrophic factor family, which is essential for the development and maintenance of the mammalian nervous system. It serves as the receptor for brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Together, NTRK2 and BDNF regulate short-term synaptic functions and long-term potentiation of brain synapses.

TrkB is a tyrosine kinase gene related to TrkA and is expressed mainly in central and peripheral nervous system tissues. BDNF and NT-3 can induce rapid tyrosine phosphorylation of TrkB gp145, with BDNF showing a much stronger response. TrkB signaling leads to cell differentiation and involves MAPK pathway activation. Mutations in TrkB have been linked to obesity and mood disorders. Multiple isoforms are generated via alternate splicing.
