Target Information
GCPR54 (also known as KISS1R) is a galanin-like G protein coupled receptor that binds metastin, a peptide encoded by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1.
The tissue distribution of this protein suggests a role in the regulation of endocrine function and the onset of puberty.
GPR54 is expressed in various human brain regions, placenta, pancreas, and spinal cord, and at lower levels in spleen, peripheral blood leukocytes, testis, lymph node, thymus, small intestine, stomach, lung, and kidney. It is also abundant in tumor tissues.
In rat, GPR54 is expressed in liver, intestine, and multiple brain regions including pons, midbrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, hippocampus, amygdala, cortex, and striatum.
ESTs have been isolated from normal placenta and kidney cancer libraries.
