Target Information
GCPR54 (also known as GPR54) is a galanin-like G protein coupled receptor that binds metastin, a peptide encoded by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1.
The tissue distribution suggests involvement in endocrine regulation and pubertal onset. GPR54 is expressed in various human tissues including brain regions, placenta, pancreas, and spinal cord, and at lower levels in spleen, leukocytes, testis, lymph node, thymus, intestine, stomach, lung, and kidney.
In rat, expression is observed in liver, intestine, and multiple brain regions (pons, midbrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, hippocampus, amygdala, cortex, striatum).
ESTs have been isolated from normal placenta and kidney cancer libraries.
