Target Information
Caspase 2 gene encodes a protein belonging to the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes that undergo proteolytic processing to form active enzymes. The proteolytic cleavage of this protein is induced by various apoptotic stimuli. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
