Target Information
The human ASH2L gene encodes a 628 amino acid protein known as ASH2L1 (isoform 1), containing a nuclear localization signal and PHD finger motif, suggesting a role as a transcription regulator. The predicted molecular weight is 68.7 kDa, with alternative isoforms at 60 kDa and 56.5 kDa.
Human ASH2L shares 60% homology with Drosophila ash2 and 90% with mouse ASH2L. It is predominantly expressed in adult heart, testis, and fetal lung and liver, with minimal expression in adult lung, liver, kidney, prostate, and peripheral leukocytes. Expression is also detected in leukemia cell lines (K562, Hel, Dami) with erythroid and megakaryocytic potential. Differentiation inducers such as phorbol ester and hemin alter expression patterns, indicating ASH2L’s role in hematopoiesis and leukemia. ASH2L may also interact with beta-tubulin and beta-catenin.
