Target Information
The PDLIM7 protein belongs to a family characterized by conserved PDZ and LIM domains. LIM domains facilitate protein–protein interactions involved in gene transcription, development, and cytoskeletal organization. The LIM domains bind protein kinases, while the PDZ domain binds actin filaments. PDLIM7 contributes to the assembly of actin filament-associated complexes essential for ret/ptc2 mitogenic signaling. It likely functions as an adapter protein, localizing LIM-binding partners to actin filaments in both muscle and nonmuscle cells. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants.
