Product Specific Information

Description:
The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by most thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells (T-helper cells), and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 serves as a receptor for HIV, and RPA-T4 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reaction. RPA-T4 recognizes a different epitope from OKT4 and does not cross-block.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-diluted and validated for flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Use 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (final volume 100 µL). Suitable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is involved in MHC class II recognition and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. Expressed mainly on T-helper lymphocytes, but also found on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Tissue-level expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain brain and gut regions. CD4 aids early T-cell activation via interaction with the TCR complex and Lck kinase, and may mediate neuronal damage in infectious or immune CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
