Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL was sufficient for detection of 0.2 µg CaMKII by colorimetric immunoblot using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
- Detects phosphorylated CaMKII from rat tissues.
- Specific for alpha and beta subunits of CaMKII only when phosphorylated at Thr-286/287 (in beta).
Target Information
Ca²⁺/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase II (CaMKII) is a multifunctional kinase that mediates cellular responses to diverse intercellular signals. It regulates synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter synthesis and release, gene expression, ion channel function, carbohydrate metabolism, cytoskeletal dynamics, and Ca²⁺ homeostasis.
Phosphorylation of Thr286 produces an autonomously active form of CaMKII, while autophosphorylation at Thr305 inhibits its activity and reduces association with the postsynaptic density, affecting long-term potentiation and learning.
