Product Specific Information

0.1 µg/mL was sufficient for detection of CaMKII in 20 µg rat brain tissue extract by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:AP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 50–60 kDa. Recognizes both phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated forms.

Target Information

CAMK2A (CaMKII alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates various cellular functions including neuronal processes, gene expression, carbohydrate metabolism, cytoskeletal function, and calcium homeostasis. Autophosphorylation of threonine 286 activates CAMK2A, enabling calmodulin-independent activity. CaMKII is widely expressed and plays key roles in dendritic spine and synapse formation, neuronal plasticity, and calcium transport regulation in skeletal muscle. In neurons, it binds and bundles actin filaments, contributing to cytoskeletal reorganization during plasticity.
