Target Information
Fatty acid synthase (FASN) is a multifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of palmitate from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA using NADPH. It plays a key role in lipid biosynthesis. In some cancer cell lines, FASN has been found fused with estrogen receptor-alpha (ER-alpha), forming a hybrid protein where the N-terminus of FASN is fused with the C-terminus of ER-alpha.
