Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular/luminal epitope of CD63 (LAMP-3), a 40–60 kDa tetraspan glycoprotein expressed by granulocytes, platelets, T cells, monocytes/macrophages, and endothelial cells. Cell surface exposition of CD63 is usually activation-dependent.

Target Information

CD63 (LAMP-3, lysosome-associated membrane protein-3) is a tetraspanin glycoprotein found in late endosomes, lysosomes, and secretory vesicles of various cell types. It is also present on the plasma membrane, typically following cell activation, and serves as a basophil activation marker.
CD63 interacts with integrins, influences phagocytosis and cell migration, and participates in H/K-ATPase trafficking and ROMK1 channel regulation. It also acts as a T-cell costimulation molecule and can be used as a prognostic marker in early-stage carcinomas.
CD63 is expressed on activated platelets, monocytes, macrophages, and weakly on granulocytes, B, and T cells. It is identical to melanoma-associated antigen ME491 and platelet antigen PTLGP40.
Diseases associated with CD63 dysfunction include melanoma and Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome.
