Target Information
The antibody targets the constant region of immunoglobulin heavy chains. Immunoglobulins (antibodies) are membrane-bound or secreted glycoproteins produced by B lymphocytes. In humoral immunity, membrane-bound immunoglobulins act as receptors that trigger clonal expansion and differentiation of B cells into plasma cells. Secreted immunoglobulins mediate antigen elimination. Each immunoglobulin has two antigen binding sites formed by variable domains of heavy and light chains, assembled through V-(D)-J rearrangement and refined by somatic hypermutation for affinity maturation.
