Target Information
Xeroderma pigmentosum type G (XPG) is a human genetic disease exhibiting extreme sensitivity to sunlight. The XPG protein, a member of the flap endonuclease 1 (FEN-1) structure-specific DNA repair endonuclease family, is essential for DNA repair of UV-induced damages. Human XPG nuclease performs the 3′ incision during nucleotide excision repair, cleaving DNA bubble structures near duplex junctions. A 29-amino acid region (residues 981–1009) contains PCNA binding activity, with Arg992 being crucial for this interaction. Replication Protein A (RPA) binds directly to two excision repair proteins, XPA and XPG.
