For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

AFP (Alpha Fetoprotein) is a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac, intestinal tract, and liver during fetal life. In adults, AFP expression is often associated with hepatoma or teratoma, though hereditary persistence can occur without pathology. AFP is considered the fetal counterpart of serum albumin, with both genes located in tandem on chromosome 4. It exists in monomeric, dimeric, and trimeric forms, and can bind copper, nickel, fatty acids, and bilirubin.
AFP levels in amniotic fluid are used to screen for neural tube defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly. Elevated serum AFP is observed in hepatocellular carcinoma, teratoblastoma, colorectal and pancreatic cancers, and germ cell tumors.
