ADAMTS13는 ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif) 단백질 패밀리의 구성원으로, 프로펩타이드 영역, 메탈로프로테아제 도메인, 디스인테그린 유사 도메인, 그리고 thrombospondin type 1 (TS) 모티프를 포함합니다.
이 효소는 von Willebrand Factor (vWF)를 Tyr842–Met843 위치에서 절단하는 프로테아제로, 결핍 시 혈전성 혈소판감소성 자반증(thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura)과 관련이 있습니다.
