Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors are mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The identity of the growth factor bound to a receptor monomer determines whether the receptor is a homodimer or heterodimer composed of both PDGFR alpha and beta polypeptides. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, flanked by genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, potentially involved in the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 can result in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
