Target Information
The protein encoded by SC35 is a member of the serine/arginine (SR)-rich family of pre-mRNA splicing factors, which constitute part of the spliceosome. These factors contain an RNA recognition motif (RRM) for RNA binding and an RS domain for protein interactions. The RS domain facilitates interaction between different SR splicing factors. SR proteins are critical for mRNA splicing and are also involved in mRNA export and translation. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein and one non-coding transcript variant have been found for SC35, along with a pseudogene on chromosome 11.
