Target Information
Phosphatidic acid phosphatase type 2 (PAP2) was originally identified as a plasma membrane enzyme that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of phosphatidic acid (PA) to diacylglycerol (DG). Multiple isoforms of PAP2 were cloned, and these enzymes dephosphorylate various lipid phosphates such as lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). They are collectively known as lipid phosphate phosphatases (LPPs), including LPP1, LPP1a, LPP2, and LPP3.
