• For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It is abundantly expressed in endothelial cells but not in B or T cells. Expression is inducible by TNF and IL-1α. This cytokine acts as a ligand for TNFRSF25 and the decoy receptor TNFRSF21/DR6, activating NF-κB and MAP kinases. It functions as an autocrine factor to induce apoptosis in endothelial cells and inhibits endothelial cell proliferation, serving as an angiogenesis inhibitor. An additional isoform from an alternatively spliced transcript variant has been reported.
