• Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It is abundantly expressed in endothelial cells but not in B or T cells. Expression is inducible by TNF and IL-1α. This cytokine is a ligand for receptors TNFRSF25 and TNFRSF21/DR6, activates NF-κB and MAP kinases, and functions as an autocrine factor inducing apoptosis in endothelial cells. It inhibits endothelial cell proliferation and may act as an angiogenesis inhibitor. An additional isoform from an alternatively spliced transcript variant has been reported but its sequence has not been determined.
