• Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
  Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  For staining of formalin-fixed tissues, heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It is abundantly expressed in endothelial cells but not in B or T cells. Expression is inducible by TNF and IL-1 alpha. This cytokine is a ligand for receptors TNFRSF25 and TNFRSF21/DR6, activates NF-kappaB and MAP kinases, and acts as an autocrine factor inducing apoptosis in endothelial cells. It also inhibits endothelial cell proliferation, functioning as an angiogenesis inhibitor. An additional isoform from an alternatively spliced transcript variant has been reported, though its sequence has not been determined.
