Target Information
RPS6KA5 (MSK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in regulating various cellular processes. It mediates mitogen- or stress-induced phosphorylation of transcription factors such as CREB1 and ATF1, and regulates RELA, STAT3, and ETV1/ER81.
MSK1 contributes to gene activation via histone phosphorylation and plays a key role in inflammatory gene regulation. It phosphorylates CREB1 and ATF1 in response to stimuli like UV-C irradiation, EGF, and anisomycin, and modulates RELA transcriptional activity in response to TNF and glucocorticoids. In skeletal myoblasts, it is required for RELA phosphorylation at Ser-276 during oxidative stress, and in erythropoietin-stimulated cells, it mediates STAT3 Ser-727 phosphorylation, influencing transcriptional regulation.
