Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
MYH (mutY homolog, E. coli) is a DNA glycosylase mismatch repair enzyme that works with mutM (OGG1) to cleave adenine residues paired with oxidized or non-modified guanines, correcting A/G and A/C mismatches.
DNA glycosylases initiate base excision repair by cleaving N-glycosyl bonds. MYH is essential for preventing mutations from oxidative DNA damage.
Multiple N-terminal splice variants exist in mammalian cells. Increased MYH levels in A549 cells exposed to oxygen and infrared radiation improve cell survival.
Biallelic MYH germ-line mutations predispose humans to colorectal adenomas and carcinomas. MYH is abundant in neurons, maintaining mitochondrial DNA integrity against reactive oxygen species (ROS).
