Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Bcl-w is a life-promoting protein identified using a PCR-based strategy. It is highly conserved between mouse and human and encoded by a gene near the TCRα locus on chromosome 14. Bcl-w is expressed in myeloid cell lines but not in T and B lymphocytes, and is found in various tissues.
Alternative splicing of exon 4 yields two transcripts:
- Bcl-w: encodes a 193 amino acid protein
- Bcl-w/rox: encodes a 333 amino acid protein
The rox domain of Bcl-w/rox shares 66% amino acid identity with Drosophila rox2 protein, though Bcl-w/rox expression may be at very low levels.
