• Antibody is tested in direct ELISA.
• For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.

Target Information

Calbindin-D-28K (also termed vitamin D-dependent calcium-binding protein, or cholecalcin) is a highly conserved 28 kDa calcium-binding protein with broad tissue distribution.
It belongs to a family of low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins (CaBPs), including calmodulin, S-100, parvalbumin, and troponin C.
These CaBPs have homologous primary structures with conserved EF-hand type folds for Ca²⁺ binding.
Calbindin-D-28K is predominantly found in subpopulations of central and peripheral nervous system neurons, as well as epithelial cells involved in Ca²⁺ transport (e.g., distal tubular cells, cortical collecting tubules of the kidney, and enteric neuroendocrine cells).
