• Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.

Target Information

Calbindin-D-28K (also termed vitamin D-dependent calcium-binding protein, or cholecalcin) is a highly conserved 28 kDa calcium-binding protein with broad tissue distribution. It belongs to the family of low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins (CaBPs) such as calmodulin, S-100, parvalbumin, and troponin C. These CaBPs share homologous primary structures containing conserved EF-hand type folds for Ca²⁺ binding.
Calbindin-D-28K is mainly found in subpopulations of central and peripheral nervous system neurons and in epithelial cells involved in Ca²⁺ transport, such as distal tubular cells, cortical collecting tubules of the kidney, and enteric neuroendocrine cells.
