Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Grancalcin is a calcium-binding protein abundant in neutrophils and macrophages. It belongs to the penta-EF-hand subfamily of proteins, which includes sorcin, calpain, and ALG-2.
Localization of grancalcin depends on calcium and magnesium:
- In the absence of divalent cations: localizes to the cytosolic fraction
- With magnesium alone: partitions with the granule fraction
- With both magnesium and calcium: associates with granule and membrane fractions
These properties suggest a role for grancalcin in granule–membrane fusion and degranulation.
